Who is Stephen T. Busby?
Stephen T. Busby PhD was born on June 10, 1949. He was raised by a family who offered shelter and love after his father left him and his mother in a cabin in Wilseyville CA at a logging camp. They had no money, no car, and no employment.
The Manly Family, Uncle Arch, Auntie Fern, and two loving sisters age 7 and 11, Sara & Garnet raised Stephen until he was about 2. Stephen’s mother had worked and prepared a place for herself and son to live in Toppenish WA where Stephen attended 12 years of school. The depression forced the situation. During the first 21 years of Stephen’s life he was greatly influenced by grandparents and mother who shared the values of: respect, manners, pride in workmanship, sensitivity, kindness, do what it takes to do the job right, and remember “Everything you do has your name on it, how do you want to be remembered? Treat people the way you want to be treated” were all words from his grandfather.
Stephen’s college career involved working at demanding physical labor jobs during school and summer. He was a successful athlete in track, baseball, and springboard diving, even diving on his college team.
After graduation he proclaimed, “ I never want to say, I wish I would have! “ and sat his Teaching BA Degree to the side and worked for farmers so he could play music. He had many jobs to supplement the meager musician wage. Just a few: Paint contractor, Scuba shop manager, Health Club owner / instructor, truck driver, Book keeper for the Yakima Indian Nation, Gymnastic School Owner/ instructor, coach for many athletic teams receiving coach of the year award his first year coaching HS Varsity basketball.
Music business and time away from home helped create his most devastating event, a divorce and living outside the home of his children. To this day he and his children are very very close and his former wife a respected friend and mother to their children.
The loss of a brother to suicide delivered another reality of life and forced awareness.
As a child, Stephen saw the ugliness of domestic violence and felt the frustration of not being able to help defend his mother. It may be why he continued his martial art studies and became a 4-time National Karate Champion at ages 37 & 38.
Currently, Stephen T. Busby looks over his shoulder to see 25 years as a University instructor, teaching teachers how to teach while developing more self awareness. He sees 28 years in public education working in impoverished areas and choosing to assist the most At-Risk students.
Stephen’s guidance has created numerous champions in athletics as well as personal struggle victories for those who seek his approach to confidence, security, and Happiness. He is often called a Mind Doctor, Master Mentor, Coach, but mostly a valued and respected friend.
Educated by “the street”, the books, and the numerous experiences has created Stephen’s value to you.
I have spent this much of my life gathering. Now, it is time to focus on providing answers to the unanswered ‘WHY’ so many ask about their habits and life.”
It is Busby Now time in your life.
